Let me post, my counter opinion defending our local companies. This argument happen in forum that i join:

STATEMENT

Sorry was I wrong?? ......Petronas' money not ours?? .......
Petronas' money belongs to them, Petronas in turn belongs to shareholders, so technically Petronas money belongs to Petronas shareholders, and since the Govt owns a large chunk of Petronas means part of the money's the Govt and since the Govt's holding it for the nation then its ours..... You may not care what Petronas do with your share of the money but many of us do care....

Understood .... companies do innovate and expand their businesses but as I have emphasised before, innovation and development should be with proper planning especially with major projects, for Petronas to go into engine development they should have done it in collaboration with a car producer, thats all. Engine developments go into millions if not billions. You dont develop and go around marketing it.....this pasar malam business style should cease .........right from the beginning they should have worked with Proton. Any engine developed must consider the vehicle's final platform, chassis, mounting points, size of final products, blah blah blah... unless of course Petronas engine is of universal standard could be fixed to any car, any sized vehicle, any platform tu ako tak tau la. Ini tak .....buat engine jual dan pembeli terpaksa buat kereta around this engine??? ...

Granted, Petronas teaming with Sauber should be fully utilised, but if Petronas can work with a foreign racing car manufacturer, if Sauber could be called one since engine also bought from Ferrari, then why didnt they work with Proton right from the start???

Ini double work.....Petronas buat injin, Proton buat engine, at least Proton owns Lotus who could provide the technology, kan ke tu kerja membazir???? Memang duit dier orang banyak .......tapi kalau di abiskan sikit demi sedikit dgn projek membazir seperti ni ......satu gunung duit pon abis .....Ingat aper jadik ngan PERTAMINA yang kaya raya dulu tu ...

All is not lost .......maybe aderkan promosi .....beli 5 tin Syntium you get one SENG engine ....whilst stock last. Maybe quotelah konon ader orang dalam kata Petronas gunakan engine SENG buat test minyak injin dier orang, itu pon kira berguna la....or pasang kipas instead of radiator fan, buleh buat engine motorboat .....

Petronas better off compared to the other top dogs????? Pleazzze..... Companies like Shell and Exxon explore for Oil, take great risks and pay huge royalties ......Petronas korek minyak tanah sendiri belakang rumah, nasib baik jumpa minyak itu jer...

I really dont wanna argue with you bout the "our money".But, when a company that associate with govement we always said it's people's money.Go and [censored] yourselves if you still got this thinking man. Yeah that's true i dont give a damn how they spend their money, but i would give a damn how the money benefits us and hey,look at our neighbors Thai and Philippine in term of education hoping Unocal,Conoco etc to sponsored their graduates but we in Malaysia has PET,TNB to backup our people. But, what have we done if we said "we care about our money spent in PET?" izzit just go to warung kopi and scold this person, pin out that person mistakes and at last go back home and sleep.[censored] that, talking without action is useless.

I totally agree with you about organizing/planning each step we need to take before and after it starts. However, i dont think PET wont do their research with Proton before they did the colloboration, they should know this project gonna cost a multi-millions bucks to deal with. In this position, what went wrong is coming from both of companies’ board of directors. You see, they always changing their members,the previous directors had their own vision and then with the new appointed members with their "some how better" planing,junk those "old" development without any consideration. That's the best reason i can think of,period. But you guys should have your own reasoning because this like "top secret" matter,why the deal is off?. [this can a great thesis, if someone can discover the truth behind this deal, just watchout the ISA].

Why PET dont teaming with Proton? Because Proton dont have technology/specialist in the F1 industry. What happen if two "dumb" companies try to make a car? it would a "super dumb" car, right? So let PET teaming with this good company, and someday they can apply experience with Proton. Btw, partnership between PET and EON in rally cars do give a solid reputation to our country.

Tell me what happen on PERTAMINA? Do they make engines? the main problems in PERTAMINA is corruption (which is also happen in PET but no so obviosly). After Suharto's regime down and IMF taking over the country, most of their wells are handed over foreign company such as Total,Unocal,Murphy etc. We cant apply it to Malaysia to be the same like this but we can take precautious on what happen to them.

Why you proud of foreign companies? let me quote statement from Petronas "To augment Malaysia's petroleum resources, PETRONAS has since 1990 pursued exploration, development and production activities outside Malaysia. These activities are undertaken by PETRONAS Carigali (Overseas) Sdn Bhd through various subsidiaries. Currently the company is actively involved in the upstream sector in 25 countries." After 25 countries in just less than 15 years, did you ever still said "korek belakang rumah"?

Last but least, i'm proud our local companies (PET,PROTON,TNB) thanks to them we had this prosperous life and also thanks to foreign companies of sharing their technologies.
